Seneca Babcock Community Association, Inc., has been the only organization providing Human Service programs to the residents of the Seneca Babcock neighborhood since 1972. With a high concentration of youth in the area (50% of the population is under 18 and living in a home with a female head of the house) and also one of the highest drop out rates in the city, all the youth and family programs that we offer are vital in our efforts to promote the importance of education and to challenge our young people to learn, develop and achieve their greatest potential.
Today, the center offers comprehensive human service programming to the residents of the Seneca Babcock and Hydraulics neighborhoods. These services are aimed at all age groups of the historically low-income area. Without a community school and the closing of St. Monica^s Church, our community center is truly the focal point of the neighborhood.
In the last several years, our center has undergone major changes in our Board of Directors, personnel, programs and philosophy. Although our community center has one of the smallest budgets of any center in the City of Buffalo, we deliver programs and services six days per week, twelve to fourteen or more per day.
